Genre

"Genre is no longer a fixed set of elements"

Buckingham (1990) argues that genre is a "constant process of negotiation and changes"

Genre is constantly changing and developing every day, we have new technologies are being used and developed. Therefore, different genres come around. If genre stayed the same, audiences would become bored and nothing would be interesting because it has been done before.

For our music promo we have decided that the genre would be pop acoustic. Pop itself is a wide range of different sub genres, pop acoustic is just a branch off of that. Pop acoustic is a good genre and the musical instruments within this piece- an acoustic guitar identify it as this.

When listening to the track we decided that it is quite a quiet soft song but the meaning behind the words gives it a more powerful meaning than the instrument does its self.  This was what caught my eye was the meaning an power that combined with the lyrics and the instrument it gave a whole new meaning to me what pop acoustic could be.

Ink settles in- this song is a pop acoustic genre however, when you read the lyrics to this song and look at the art work you would think that it is a rock/ punk genre.
